This is an llustration from a scene in a fanfic I'm writing (that my coworker cothought up) called Lost in a Good Book.
The plot is that new villain Quill is a master rare book thief. He recently stole the original printings of 5 books from Jump City museum. Well he would have had the Titans not intervined. However before they could take Quill down he recites an enchantation and their world goes all spinny. They all wake up disoriented with a book in their hands. The pages of the books are blank. They look like journals. What the titans soon realize is that they are all stuck in one of the 5 books Quill stole. Each taking the place of one of its characters. When Raven wakes up as Mina Harker in Bram Stoker's Dracula she feels fearful for what's to become of her... so she begins recording her feelingsi in the journal she has. Robin (who wakes up as Watson in the Hounds of Baskervill by Sir Arther Conan Doyle) decides to start keeping track of events but finds raven's hand writing and journal entries in his formerly blank book. Eventually all the titans discover they can communicate with one another through these books.
They find one of the main reasons they got seperated was because Quill had special plans for Starfire. She woke up as Emma the Title character in Jane Austin's Emma... a very undangerous book... the whole reason is because Quill fancies Starfire and used the heist not only as a way to obtain these books... but to get his way with Star.
Will the Titans survive the books and be able to stop Quill and his plan?
lol ok now I'm getting cheesy with the question.
So now that you know all that, hopefully it makes sense as to all the different text bubbles, these are all journal "IMs".
Robin's is the text in the bold stroked font
Raven's is the cursive font in the cirlce bubble
BB's is the one with the thin lines and over use of punctuation
and star's is the simple but pretty text.
Raven hit the part of the book where Drac bites Mina.
Sounds like a good story. I love the way you've done Dracula. All wrinkly etc etc. Though personally I prefer Anne Rice's vampires. Raven looks awesome too. All soft skined and dare I say innocent??? The black, gray and white is really effective too. Old school. Do you have an account on fanfic, cause I reckon your stories would be an awesome read.
Very intriguing! I'd love to read more of this story once you're done with it. The comic is lovely as well...the text bubbles aren't intrusive and actually give an idea of what's going on.

And I have to ask, because I am that obsessed- is this fanfic include a vague focus on RobxRae? Just curious. XD
In any case, this is rightly beautiful. Reminds me of those old-fashioned movies. Raven looks fantastic, the details are amazing. I love how you drew her cheekbones. Great job. Dracula looks extra creepy. Poor Raven. ;_;
I'll be checking back if/when you update this. ^^

there is a vague focus on RobRae... but there is also a vague focus on RobStar... and CyRae and well its all how you read into it... really you could find any pairing in the fic. When in the situation they are in... you don't really have time for shipping... but everyone gets some bonding time.

The use of shading serves to accentuate the setting and the time period, and the artwork is well done and suspenseful
